A “Practical” Application of the Evidence for all Clinicians


 

TARGET AUDIENCE: rehabilitation clinicians from the new graduate to the experienced clinician who desires to refresh their techniques and for all settings of rehabilitation

Course Summary:

This course is a 70% “hands-on” lab that takes the attendee through the “practical”

application of evidence-based medicine as it relates to manual therapy of the upper and

lower extremity. This course will equip the attendee with skills to efficiently offer their

patients a therapy session that combines functional manual therapy techniques and

corrective exercise strategies.

This multimodal approach will cover:

 Common Orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity such as rotator cuff

syndrome/repair, adhesive capsulitis, shoulder arthroplasty, elbow disorders

 Common Orthopedic conditions of the lower extremity such as osteoarthritis of

the hip, knee, and ankle; hip disorders; and hip and knee arthroplasty

The attendee will learn:

 How to incorporate manual therapy into a therapy session for acute care to

outpatient settings

 How to document the effects of the treatment and utilize outcome

measurements

 How to instruct and facilitate compliance with your patients home exercise

programs

 How to determine whether you are doing too much, too little or just the right amount of therapy
