TARGET AUDIENCE: rehabilitation clinicians from the new graduate to the experienced clinician who desires to refresh their techniques and for all settings of rehabilitation
Course Summary:
This course is a 70% “hands-on” lab that takes the attendee through the “practical”
application of evidence-based medicine as it relates to manual therapy of the upper and
lower extremity. This course will equip the attendee with skills to efficiently offer their
patients a therapy session that combines functional manual therapy techniques and
corrective exercise strategies.
This multimodal approach will cover:
Common Orthopedic conditions of the upper extremity such as rotator cuff
syndrome/repair, adhesive capsulitis, shoulder arthroplasty, elbow disorders
Common Orthopedic conditions of the lower extremity such as osteoarthritis of
the hip, knee, and ankle; hip disorders; and hip and knee arthroplasty
The attendee will learn:
How to incorporate manual therapy into a therapy session for acute care to
outpatient settings
How to document the effects of the treatment and utilize outcome
measurements
How to instruct and facilitate compliance with your patients home exercise
programs
How to determine whether you are doing too much, too little or just the right amount of therapy
